Old Business
Township Banners – Marlene commented that the front of Hithergreen, on the light fixtures, we could use two other banners. Mike indicated he would check that out.
At the last meeting, replacement of the summer and fall banners was discussed. Mike has had difficulty finding the banner that was recommended by the committee. He requested a decision from the committee regarding other choices. The committee agreed with Mike’s suggested banner.
Mike discussed acquiring new awards for the winners. He suggested getting thermos mugs. The committee agreed that he should locate a vendor to purchase these items.
Cynthia provided an ice cream cake treat to thank the committee for the plantings at Hithergreen. She commented that the plantings are looking very nice but could use some fertilizer. Also they need another green bag for one of the trees.
New Business
Contact information for personal concerns.
Mable Leyes accepted a new term of service for the VIP committee. Her term ended this month. The committee is grateful for her long and faithful service to this committee.
Comments were discussed about the cemetery entrance. Mike explained the new additions at that site. The committee approved a new entrance sign at Talawanda Trail and Far Hills Avenue.
A suggestion was made to change the bench at the new park on Yankee Road. Mike will bring some bench designs to the next meeting for discussion. It was suggested that we may want to have two benches for aesthetic reasons. The old bench is worn and fairly unusable.
Marlene wanted to know if we have someone new on the zoning office. Mike reported that the new person’s name is Jim Wahl.
Some suggestions: Mack suggested that for the people who go out to take the pictures of the houses that it would be nice to have a small card to take with them to show or leave at the residence. This will allow people to be aware that they have been nominated for the award.
Kathy agreed to write a letter to the nominees to make them aware that they have been nominated. This will be given to Mary for mailing.
The committee voted on the July Beautification Award nominations. Seven nominations were made for the awards.
Meeting was adjoined at 5:20 pm.
Minutes respectfully submitted by June Ovington.
