3:30PM
Members present; Mitzi Lowery-Lehman, Marlene Tiernan, Cynthi Fraley, Bob Harrington, Mable Leyes, Sarah Staton.
Others present; Yvonne Dunphe, Mike Wanamaker, Jo Postle
August minutes were approved with no questions.
Jo Postle addressed concerns from the VIP members. Harrington asked about enforcement of our code and asked if we needed a new code. Harrington inquired about solicitation, and the signs placed along the roadway, the number of families living in “single family” homes, multiple cars parked in driveways that have not been moved recently, vacant lots and the pond at McEwen Road.
Jo stated that the Township adopted a Property Maintenance Code in 2001. The code has some limits of authority and falls under the State of Ohio who has to approve ordinances, and is modeled after the Miami Valley Planning Commissioners. The court process was thoroughly explained by Jo.
Jo explained the inspector’s process for a violation notices and nuisance abatement. She also explained why we don’t put a notice on the doors of violators.
Stanton stated that “open house” signs should be permitted on Sundays. Stanton wanted to talk about pre-inspections of houses.
Wanamaker stated that Montgomery County should have approved a “no parking” zone on Yankee Street by now.
Yvonne gave presentations for September’s nominations for beautification awards.
Yvonne asked if letters were sent to nominees.
Plantings at the fire stations were discussed. The pots at station 42 will be placed at another location next year.
Harrington suggested that if members’ attendance is less than seventy-five percent (75%) in a calendar year, or three (3) consecutive absences will result in resignation or removal from the committee.
Harrington made a motion that the trustees notify Sandra Drain about not attending any meetings in 2007. No second on the motion.
Cynthi made a motion that the trustees develop a policy addressing attendance on volunteer committees. She suggested that 3 consecutive absences within one year should result in removal or resignation. Harrington seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously by all present.
Harrington wants to make notice of member’s arrival and departure times.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:25pm
Respectfully submitted,
Mike Wanamaker
