Scoop up Some Fun with Food,

Activities & Games!

The 69th annual Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Washington Township Firefighters Association, has plenty of fun and educational opportunities in store for your family! The social features great food, demonstrations, family activities and an array of games for children.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at Fire Station 44, located at 6690 Centerville Business Parkway, off Clyo Road. Admission is free.

Firefighters will scoop up ice cream and serve hand-grilled barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and corn-on-the cob. Traditional summer side dishes include slaw, baked beans and pie.Cash or credit cards are accepted.

Activities include a display of antique engines, tours of fire apparatus, and live fire and rescue demonstrations -- from a traffic accident to a car fire. The CareFlight helicopter also will make a landing, with kids and adults invited to take a look inside.

Fun for Kids & Adults

The Ice Cream Social is a playground for kids! Children can paint a real fire truck from fender to fender, shoot water at a pretend fire, compete in an old-fashioned bucket brigade, play in mounds of fire-fighting foam, meet Sparky the Fire Dog, and have fun on bouncy attractions. There are also traditional ice cream and pie eating contests.

Raffle Prizes

Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Ice Cream Social for a large assortment of prizes donated by local and area merchants. Tickets also can be downloaded at, then mailed or brought to the social. Download tickets here.

Helping the Community

Proceeds from the Ice Cream Social will benefit the Washington Township Fire Department.

An independent, charitable organization comprised of township firefighters, WTFFA has used proceeds from its fundraising efforts to purchase new 2-way radios, tone-activated radio systems, thermal imaging cameras, firefighting tools, EMS equipment, safety products, and firefighter apparel, scholarships, training and more.

The association’s primary goal is to serve the Washington Township Fire Department and its members. Learn more at
