Finance Department

Built-In Accountability

Township Government is the most accountable form of government because it relies on property tax. For information on how property tax works, check here.

The Finance Department, under the direction of the Fiscal Officer, is located in the Washington Township Government Center, 8200 McEwen Road. The Fiscal Officer is elected to a four-year term and the position is part-time. Tom Zobrist, the present Fiscal Officer, was elected in November 2003 to his first term beginning April 1, 2004. He was re-elected in November 2007 and started his second four-year term on April 1, 2008. See his profile under Elected Officials.

The day-to-day operations of the Finance Department are overseen by the Finance Director. There are five full-time employees: a Payroll Technician II, an Accounts Payable Technician II, an Accounting Supervisor, a Human Resources Technician III, and an Administrative Aide. There are also two part-time employees: a Payroll Assistant and a Human Resources Assistant.
